Renzo Tjon-A-Joe reached the final of the World Junior Swimming Championships in Dubai. He finished eighth in the 50 meter freestyle.
Renzo clocked around 23 seconds in the finals. The previous day
he had set a Surinamese national record of 22.75 seconds.
His coach Zabdai Zamuel was extremely happy with his performance.
Australian Luke Percy became world champion in 22.14 seconds. The silver went to the Russian Evgeny Sedoc (22.19) and the bronze to the American Caeleb Dressel (22.22)
Renzo Tjon A Joe is Suriname’s leading swimmer in the50m and
100m. freestyle. He is a student of AlphaMax
Academy and is a member of the Oasis swim team. He has represented Suriname internationally many times.
